Introduction: It is very important to implement psychological treatments to reduce anxiety and addiction to mobile phone. The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of "Solution Focused Therapy" on anxiety and addiction to mobile phone in male students.
Methods: The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test-follow-up design of 2 months with a control group. The statistical population included all male students of the first secondary level of Borujerd city in the academic year of 2022-2023. Among them, 30 people were selected by the convenience non-random sampling method and were replaced in 2 intervention groups (15 people) and control (15 people) in a simple random way using lottery. The research instruments included demographic questionnaire, "Mobile Phone Addiction Questionnaire" and "Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale". Content validity of instruments was measured by qualitative method and reliability by internal consistency method by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient. After 8 sessions of "Solution Focused Therapy" for the intervention group, the data were analyzed in SPSS.22.
Results: "Solution Focused Therapy” over time has been effective in reducing anxiety (P=0.01, F=99.86) and mobile phone addiction (P=0.01, F=216.13) in male students.
Conclusions: “Solution Focused Therapy” was effective in reducing anxiety and addiction to mobile phones in male students. It is suggested that in order to reduce anxiety and mobile phone addiction, training courses on the above therapy should be held for students.
