Introduction: Changing the behavior of individuals for exercise in sports groups is associated with various factors. The aim of this study was to determine the factors related to exercise in sports programs of health stations in Tehran Municipality, District 4.
Methods: This study was a descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population consisted of all individuals participating in sports programs in Tehran Municipality, District 4. To select a sample of 70 health stations, 10 stations were cluster randomly selected and 247 people were selected according to Cochran formula by convenience method. In this study, the “Physical Activity Scale of Adults” was used. Face validity, content validity index, construct and convergent validity and reliability (Cronbach's alpha coefficient) were assessed. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SmartPls 3.0 software.
Results: Between self-efficacy (β = 0.15, P = 0.004), awareness (β = 0.23, P = 0.01) and physical activity intention (β = 0.19, P = 0.002) with physical activity There was a significant positive correlation. But there was no significant correlation between outcome expectations (β = 0.01, P = 0.72) with physical activity.
Conclusions: Self-efficacy, awareness and intention have a significant positive correlation with physical activity. Therefore, it is suggested that public sport managers, especially the Tehran Municipality Sport Organization, engage in social media programs to encourage people to participate in public sport programs.
